For this series of images I was given the 3D cad models by the client. I had to render them at the required angles with the required surface finishes. The client also needed the final images with everything on layers (charging station, cord, shadows, etc.) so they could manipulate them for different advertising pieces. Often 3D is preferable to shooting the actual product. It's easier to manipulate the color and surface finish to get the desired effect. If the actual item is made from something like dull silicon it doesn't usually photograph well.
